On this episode, we do something we’ve never done before; cover a news story as it’s breaking. Hurricane Harvey has already wreaked billions of dollars in devastation on Texas and one concerned parent wants to reach his missionary son. Unfortunately, the rule book doesn’t allow for this so the Mission President cut off all attempts of John O’Conner to reach his missionary son. This story is currently developing and we’ll bring updates as we learn more.

On this episode, we bid farewell to some prominent members of the Mormon church as so many were perishing due to famine and resulting sickness. Joseph Smith Sr., Big Daddy Cheese as we know him, imparts blessings on his wife and children as the darkness begins to close in. After that, we catch up with Bloody Brigham and the quorum of the Twelve on their incredibly successful mission to England, where Brigham was getting a feel for what it was like to run his own religion. Later we’ll bring on Ryan McKnight for a Mormon Leaks Minute about church leaks featuring Denver Snuffer and a huge document of sex abuse allegations raised against the church. It’s not a happy episode today… Links: Times and Seasons Vol 1 Mormon Leaks: RadioWest Denver Snuffer by Doug Fabrizio Snuffer leaks Instances of Child Sexual Abuse by Member of LDS church Show Links: Website http://nakedmormonismpodcast.com

On this episode, Jo goes on a smear campaign against the POTUS, Martin Van Buren. Jo claims his dog is more fit to run the country than Van Buren, likely giving him the confidence and social clout to run for President in the 1844 election. After that, Jo introduces baptisms for the dead and the waters of the Mississippi in Commerce were continually troubled by people getting dunked for loved ones. We wrap up the historical portion with discussing just how much John C. Bennett influenced Jo throughout his short time with the Saints. After that we bring on an old friend, Kaitlyn McKenna, to see how she’s been doing for the past two years since we last spoke after she was kicked out of her parent’s house and was forced to start a gofundme campaign for basic living essentials. On this episode, we jump into early spring of 1840 with Elias Higbee in Washington D.C. still advocating on behalf of the Mormons. Jo gets back to Nauvoo after having abandoned the Mormons during a very harsh winter to speak with the U.S. government to get some kind of recourse for the Saints’ suffering in Missouri. Rigdon is laid up with sickness and won’t respond to letters while in his fragile state. Jo holds a general conference to handle the issues in Nauvoo which had cropped up in his absence and we’re finally introduced to one of the most infamous characters in all of Mormon history as he finally makes his way into our historical timeline. After that, I’ll be speaking with Mark Naugle so he can tell us a little of his story and the social impact of people officially leaving the church in droves. On this week’s episode, we cover the first 3 months of 1840 when Jo met with the United States Congressional committee to petition them for redress for what the Saints had suffered in Missouri. The meeting met every day over a week’s time and increasingly became more skeptical with each day of discussion with Jo. Finally, a resident of Missouri makes it to the meeting to give his side of the conflict and the committee resolves that Missouri should handle Missouri’s problems. After that we have a bit of a longer Mormon Leaks Minute segment with correspondent, Ryan McKnight, to discuss a treasure trove of 37 leaked documents from Bruce McConkie’s unpublished personal writings. Patrons get an extra segment discussing McConkie’s hatred of evolution. Links: Mormon Leaks Show links: Website http://nakedmormonismpodcast.com
