The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has been around for almost two centuries. It has ebbed and fluctuated in such a predictably adaptive manner throughout it's relatively short life in the religious realm. This Church has a very sordid past, which it does a very good job of teaching for itself, whether the history is slanted or not, is yours to decide. Join me on a journey through the history of the LDS Church through the eyes of the people that were actually there. We will learn about the founding members, where the practices came from, where the Book of Mormon (Mormon Bible) came from, and most importantly, we will examine Joseph Smith in every aspect possibly available to us today.
Ep8- D-Day David Whitmer's Grand Introduction, Hiram Page's Rise and Fall

On this episode, the next heavy hitters are brought onto the scene. D-Day David Whitmer along with all the men in his family and Hiram Page, the brother in law. We start off learning about David's life before Joe, Emma, and Oliver Cowdery (Cowdung Allover) moved into the little house with the Whitmer family, in Fayette, N.Y. Then I get sidetracked chasing some scripture references in The Doctrine & Covenants (Mormon Canon). Then we find out why the history surrounding Hiram Page is so sparse in reported Mormon history, even though he was Joe's cousin, and one of the 11 witnesses to the plates. Then, I end the episode by telling you why I chose D-Day David for David Whitmer's NaMo name, and describing why I'm doing the show and who will benefit from Patronage.

On this episode, we continue to examine the recent essays released by the Mormon church on polygamy in early church practices. The first essay told us how the church arduously stopped polygamy, but didn't talk about Joseph Smith very much. Well that's what the second essay was for. The church titled it, "Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo". The church finally came out and talked about Joe's 30 to 40 wives and it is a doooozie! This episode is packed with way more information than I initially thought it would be, when I first started researching the 3000 word essay. I hope you enjoy!

On this episode, we take a look at the essays recently published, by the church, about polygamy in the early church. There were two essays totaling almost 7000 words with lots of mormon speak and convoluted history. They are clearly worth deconstructing from the naked perspective. This episode only tackles the first of the two essays entitled 'The Manifesto and the end of Plural Marriage'. Next episode we'll tackle the church's claims on Joe's polygamy, when we analyze 'Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo'.

On this episode, we finally get to analyzing one of the primary translators for Joe, Oliver Cowdery, or as we call him, Cowdung Allover. While little is known about Cowdung, before he starts translating for Joe, we know that he is a founding member of the Church, and an integral part in it's early development. We also talk about how the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods were reportedly 'restored' to the Earth, to Joe and Cowdung through a couple of angels in the woods of course, well that's how the church tells it...

On this episode, we continue talking about Not-So-Smarty-Marty Harris. There was too much to pack into one episode and keep still keep it interesting so it had to be extended. We learn about the finer details of the investment Marty is about to engage in. Smart business men try to vindicate an investment they are about to jump into and Marty is no exception. He takes a manuscript called the 'Caractors' document, which is currently possessed by The Community of Christ (a break-off LDS faction), to a college professor named 'Not-So-Smarty-Marty's-Super-Study-Smarty-Party-Pooper-Pal Charlie Anthon' to make sure "Reformed Egyptian" is actually a thing.

On this episode, we introduce a new character. South Park fans rejoice, here comes Martin Harris! DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM!! Or as we come to know him, Not-So-Smarty-Marty. We talk about the fateful day he met Joe and spoke with his entire family about this "Golden Bible" that Joe found. Near the end of the episode, we read the testimony of Abigail Harris (Marty's cousin) and Lucy Harris (Marty's cousin-wife) and find out the kind of man Marty really is.

On this episode, we discuss the lovely Emma Hale, who later became Emma Hale Smith when she married Joe, and even later becomes Emma Hale Bidamon, much after Joe dies in his notorious gunfight. We find out what Joe's father in law thinks of Joe, as well as how it relates to his conviction for fraud. There's even an interview on Emma's deathbed, given by her son, Joseph Smith III, to close the episode out.

On this episode, we begin with a very brief introduction to the purpose and focus of this podcast. After that, we take some time to discuss the history of Joseph Smith from birth to his early public life. Various details of the Smith family are revealed by neighbors as well as Lucy Mack Smith, Joseph’s mother. We also get a very simplistic understanding of magic and occult traditions followed by the Smith family and Joseph specifically. The episode ends with a short introduction to the host, Bryce Blankenagel, as well as a directory to the backlog of the podcast.

This edition of Episode 1 was recorded after the end of the “Road to Carthage” series which marked the end of Joseph Smith’s life.
