On this episode, our historical timeline awaits and there is a lot to cover. We spend the majority of the episode talking about a court trial where Jo was being tried for conspiracy of assassination. A man named Grandison Newell, a vicious anti-Mormon, filed a complaint that Jo commanded two men to kill Newell in his home, a command issued by the will of God. Once a religious leader orders a homicide, that religious leader steps into the same realm as any two-bit mob boss, I’ll let you decide if Jo took that step or not. The rest of the episode is spent on Warren Parrish and the various church leaders that were apostatizing in Kirtland, Missouri, and really anywhere there was a Mormonite church.

On this episode, we finally reach the conclusion of our 3-part deconstruction of Mark Hofmann. From young missionary to old man in prison, this has been one wild ride with Mark from his birth in 1954, through his days forging documents throughout his 20’s and finally ending at his plea bargain at the age of 32. This episode even features a surprise interview from an unexpected guest with a funny voice.

On this episode, we begin with the Panic of 1837 and how it affected Mormon history. The world economy was in the early stages of a deep depression that lasted for more than half a decade. Monetary strains really begin to take their toll on everybody with money from the Kirtland Safety Society company as rapid inflation drives up their total portfolio to nearly $4 million. The real infighting begins as conflicting complaints are filed, and P-cubed (Parley P. Pratt) preaches a sermon about the decline of the church and lies coming from the leadership. D-Day David Whitmer, John Goebbels Whitmer, along with Ollie Cowdung (Oliver Cowdery) and Not-So-Smarty-Martin Harris are all considered to be in transgression and need to be straightened out. Never has dissent and blasphemy run so rampant through the quiet streets of Kirtland, Ohio. We finish up with a detail I didn’t originally perceive concerning the 1836 treasure digging trip to Salem, Massachusetts as well as some speculation on the human behind the historical Joseph Smith.
